On April 5, 2023 our "Apollo" PowerPress valves and fittings were put to the test by an F1 tornado in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
An F1 tornado has the strength to cause significant damage, with wind speeds ranging from 73 to 112 miles per hour and the power to uproot trees, snap branches and inflict damage on roofs, windows, and structures.
Our product demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, withstanding the destructive force of the tornado without succumbing to damage and remaining functional despite the extreme conditions.
The warehouse, pictured above, was an exceptionally large building, practically brand new, constructed with “Apollo” PowerPress gas fittings and modern materials and advanced engineering techniques. Despite the massive scale and force of the tornado, our product stood firm within the confines of this state-of-the-art facility, further highlighting its exceptional durability and ability to endure even the most challenging circumstances.
While nearby trees struggled to withstand the forceful winds, some succumbing to uprooting and damage, our robust valves and fittings stood strong, a testament to their exceptional strength and durability. Below is an image captioned “connection strength” that visually demonstrates the impressive durability of our fittings. Not only did our product withstand the storm, but the aftermath revealed that no pressure was lost, and a secure fitting connection remained intact despite the pipe now being at a 45-degree angle.
The secondary purpose of this image is to highlight the stark contrast between the vulnerability of natural elements like trees and the remarkable ability of our engineered products to withstand the immense forces unleashed by a tornado of this magnitude.
The incident involving our valves and fittings enduring the powerful F1 tornado in Kentucky has brought to light an important consideration. While our products were not initially designed or tested specifically for tornado resistance, the remarkable performance they demonstrated in this extreme situation highlights that we can provide a peace of mind to our customers, ensuring that our products can withstand not only normal operating conditions but also unforeseen natural disasters.
This experience serves as a valuable catalyst for further enhancing the strength and durability of our offerings, ultimately reinforcing our commitment to delivering solutions that can withstand a wide range of environmental changes.
Don’t simply buy powerful products that can withstand any storm, install the solution to guarantee a peace of mind.
Don’t just buy products, buy solutions.
