My next challenge is to encourage more women to join the team, preferably from diverse backgrounds, because I truly believe that diversity is a recipe for success.

Nails, Botox, facial cleansing—this was my world for 11 years while running my own SPA, an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. I'm not an esthetician by trade. I took a chance on owning my own business using my knowledge, training and experience. It taught me the importance of dreaming, standing up for myself and being accountable. These lessons continue to serve me well in my current role at Aalberts in the valve business.

I am proud of the fact that we deliver monthly reports to the business within three days. As a team, I believe we can get it down to a two-day timeframe. We need to work like a Formula 1 team.

My father was one of sixteen children. I have five aunts and ten uncles, so I'm used to being part of a big family. In addition, almost everyone in my family has musical talent. I, on the other hand, am a singer. When I am on stage with all these musically talented people, I tend to take a back seat. But when it comes to accounting, I'm in the lead. I've been fascinated by numbers since childhood.
